Generally, I'm not the squeamish type when it comes to finding bugs in the house. It's just one bug everyone once in a while, so I don't get the heebie jeebies too often. As bugs go, the boys are fascinated with them. Aidan thinks of them as his little friends. One day, I'm in our cluttered homeschool room talking on the phone with my mom. We're just chatting about everyday stuff and I notice that Aidan is on his knees on the stairs talking to his hands. I thought maybe he was just talking to himself. He does tend to do that sometimes. So, I continue my conversation with my mom. A few minutes later, he brings me his new little friend. He plops a live bug right onto my hand. On the other end of the line, my mother hears my voice cut off in mid-sentence to hysterical screaming. Of course, she panics herself wondering all sorts of horrible things happening. Poor Aidan stands there looking at me as if I had lost my mind now looking for the bug that went flying. I finally calm down enough to reassure my mom that no one was dying. Yes, I know I said I'm not the squeamish type, but a bug on my hand was a little too much for me. Time for some chocolate and a bubble bath.
They instructed me to make sure I have a full bladder on arriving for my ultrasound. Ha. I almost laughed in their faces. Pregnant me plus a full bladder equals a disaster. On my son's birthday back in March, I had to drive all the kids home afterward. I had drunk a lot of water and couldn't believe I had forgotten what happens to me when I drink too much water with no bathroom nearby when I'm pregnant. I counted the minutes till I got home all the while breaking the law and speeding trying to keep in mind not to drive too recklessly screaming at the poky people in front of me. It brought to mind the very first time I experienced a full bladder as a pregnant woman. It was my first baby and my husband was in the Air Force. So, when we had an ultrasound we went to the Academy in Colorado Springs. They told me to drink an astronomical amount of water before I came. I did so and then we started out for the half hour drive to the hospital. By the time we were on the
